The BLT is a classic sandwich that combines the crispiness of bacon with the freshness of lettuce and tomato. It’s simple, satisfying, and perfect for a quick lunch or casual dinner.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of bacon
  • 4 slices of your favorite bread (such as sourdough, whole grain, or white bread)
  • 4 lettuce leaves (such as romaine or iceberg)
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • Mayonnaise
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Avocado slices or cheese for additional flavor

Directions

  1. Cook the bacon to your desired crispiness. You can fry the bacon in a skillet over medium heat, bake in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 15-20 minutes, or cook in the microwave between paper towels for about 3-5 minutes.
  2. While the bacon is cooking, toast the bread slices to your preference.
  3. Spread a generous amount of mayonnaise on one side of each slice of toasted bread.
  4. On two slices of bread, layer the lettuce leaves, followed by the tomato slices. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper on the tomato slices for extra flavor.
  5. Add the cooked bacon on top of the tomatoes. If using, add avocado slices or cheese at this stage.
  6. Top with the remaining slices of bread, mayonnaise side down.
  7. Cut each sandwich in half and serve immediately.
