The BLT is a classic sandwich that combines the crispiness of bacon with the freshness of lettuce and tomato. It’s simple, satisfying, and perfect for a quick lunch or casual dinner.
Ingredients
- 8 slices of bacon
- 4 slices of your favorite bread (such as sourdough, whole grain, or white bread)
- 4 lettuce leaves (such as romaine or iceberg)
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- Mayonnaise
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Avocado slices or cheese for additional flavor
Directions
- Cook the bacon to your desired crispiness. You can fry the bacon in a skillet over medium heat, bake in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 15-20 minutes, or cook in the microwave between paper towels for about 3-5 minutes.
- While the bacon is cooking, toast the bread slices to your preference.
- Spread a generous amount of mayonnaise on one side of each slice of toasted bread.
- On two slices of bread, layer the lettuce leaves, followed by the tomato slices. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper on the tomato slices for extra flavor.
- Add the cooked bacon on top of the tomatoes. If using, add avocado slices or cheese at this stage.
- Top with the remaining slices of bread, mayonnaise side down.
- Cut each sandwich in half and serve immediately.
