Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 teaspoons unflavored gelatin powder
- 3 tablespoons cold water
For the Topping (optional):
- Fresh berries, fruit compote, or caramel sauce
Directions
- In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water. Let it stand for about 5 minutes to soften.
- In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, and sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring, until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is hot but not boiling.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the softened gelatin to the hot cream mixture and stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the mixture into 6 ramekins or small bowls. Allow them to cool to room temperature.
- Cover the ramekins with plastic wrap and refrigerate the panna cotta for at least 4 hours, or until set.
- To serve, run a small knife around the edge of each panna cotta and invert onto a serving plate. You can also serve it in the ramekin.
- Top the panna cotta with your choice of fresh berries, fruit compote, or caramel sauce.
- Serve the Panna Cotta chilled and enjoy!
