  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup water
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg


  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • Zest of 1 large orange
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

Orange Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest


  1. In a large bowl, combine 2 ¼ cups flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the milk, water, and butter until warm (not hot).
  3. Add the milk mixture and egg to the flour mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms. Add additional flour as needed.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, and orange zest in a bowl for the filling.
  7. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread with softened butter, and sprinkle the filling mixture over it.
  8. Roll the dough tightly from the long end, and cut into 12 rolls.
  9. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  11. Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
  12. While the rolls bake, whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, and zest for the glaze.
  13. Drizzle the glaze over warm rolls before serving.
