Green Onion Garlic Naan Bread is a flavorful twist on the traditional Indian naan. Infused with fresh green onions and garlic, this bread is soft, fluffy, and perfect for pairing with your favorite curries or enjoying as a snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter, plus extra for brushing
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup green onions, finely chopped
  • Optional: Fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, sugar, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix together the warm milk, yogurt, and olive oil or melted butter.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms. You may need to adjust the amount of flour or milk slightly to achieve the right consistency.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball.
  7. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each ball into an oval shape, about 1/8 inch thick.
  8. Sprinkle the minced garlic and chopped green onions over the top of each naan.
  9. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Place one naan at a time onto the hot skillet, garlic and green onion side up. Cook for about 1-2 minutes, or until bubbles form on the surface and the bottom is golden brown.
  10. Flip the naan and cook for another 1-2 minutes on the other side.
  11. Brush the cooked naan with additional melted butter or olive oil and optionally garnish with chopped cilantro.
  12. Serve the Green Onion Garlic Naan Bread warm.
