Gochujang Green Beans is a spicy and flavorful Korean-inspired side dish. It combines the crispness of green beans with the unique heat and depth of gochujang (Korean chili paste). This dish is perfect for adding a kick to any meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey or sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes for extra heat

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the gochujang, soy sauce, honey or sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. If you like it spicier, add the red pepper flakes. Set aside.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the green beans and stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes, or until they are tender-crisp and slightly charred.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium and pour the gochujang sauce over the green beans. Toss to coat the beans evenly in the sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
  5. Remove from heat. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  6. Serve the Gochujang Green Beans hot as a side dish.
